Justin Bieber crosses up Steve Nash, lockout hits home for Jared Dudley

It’s generally not national news when a point guard blows by Steve Nash on the way to the hoop.
But when that point guard is teen pop sensation Justin Bieber, that story gets more than it’s fair share of play.

A nine-second clip of Bieber crossing over Nash off a pick on his way to the hoop with girlfriend Selena Gomez squealing for him in the background has been making the rounds on the Internet after Bieber tweeted a link to it on Friday and wrote “hold up though…is that the REAL @SteveNash - yes…yes it is…#crossover.” The blow by occurred during a pickup game in advance of a charity game in Atlanta.

The video has since received over 568,000 views on YouTube as of this writing and 236,000 on TwitVid. It even spent time on the Yahoo! front page, which would be pretty astounding aside from the fact Yahoo! often leads with stories like this that are sure to draw clicks.
Nash took things in stride and tweeted: “Thanks to @justinbieber I’m trending in Buenos Aires, Australia and Canada. Hola, G’Day, eh?”
In the clip Nash tries to go over the pick but Bieber instead crosses over to get to the tin and thus a highlight is born.
Dudley missing unofficial start of season
Labor Day weekend is usually about the time that Phoenix Suns players return to the Valley for voluntary workouts in advance of training camp.
With the lockout far from over, that of course is not the case this season.
“Today feels like the 1st day of the lockout!! This time last yr I flew back to phx to start preparing for the upcoming season,” Jared Dudley tweeted. “In July an August is usually travel, family, and training time.. September the time u get back to Ur team to start bonding and chemistry.”
The players and owners met on Wednesday, but we’re still weeks if not months away from the conclusion of the lockout.
With players continuing to work out on their own (we hope) rather than returning for team workouts, the lockout officially starts to affect players’ normal routine this week.
For Dudley that means getting some run in the Impact Basketball Competitive Training Series in Vegas that will features eight teams with seven or eight NBA players each, according to Howard Beck of The New York Times. JD is the only Sun currently expected to play, but The Arizona Republic’s Paul Coro reported that Dudley is trying to get Channing Frye, Josh Childress and Aaron Brooks to join him as well.
The league is scheduled to start on Sept. 12 with the games streamed live online. Beck’s story said the league is expected to feature “some expectation of defense,” so along with rosters containing only NBA players the so-called Lockout League will be much different than the pro-am games staged throughout the country the last couple months.

Justin Bieber Tweets on Being Normal...is He? Or is He Special?

Justin Bieber had a twitter moment where he missed being "a normal kid." He can't go back, but as he ages he seems to get better.

For those Justin Bieber fans who don't follow him on twitter, or follow him but don't always get to viewing his latest tweets, here's some news: on September 4, 2011, in the midst of tweets about his charity basketball game in Atlanta, he tweeted about being normal. Or about wanting to be normal.

The thoughts came up after a question from gabbygrutt14, one of Bieber's 12,435,918 followers on Twitter. She asked Bieber if he would like to spend time again simply being "normal," whatever that might be. "@justinbieber if you could..would you for one day go back to being a normal kid?" gabbygrutt14 asked Bieber. "just for a day, #randomquestion."

That question got from Justin Bieber a seemingly honest reply, and a telling one. "yeah...for more than 1 day. i love my life but yeah. this question stuck out to me. i wanted to answer it. thanks," he wrote. He then followed that response with this: "but i feel really blessed to do what i do. very grateful. i am normal though."

Justin Bieber: Praise from Celebrities
Justin Bieber has often spoken of keeping himself grounded, normal, in the midst of all of the things he has and things he gets to do, the tours, recordings, TV shows, money and all the adulation. He seems to have achieved being normal and celebrities from Usher to David Letterman to Barbara Walters have said as much, impressed by who he is.

"I could be accused of being a dirty old woman because I thought he was adorable," Walters said after he was on her show in December of 2010. "His mother was at the interview, who looks about 12-years-old, and his grandparents.

"He's very talented. He taught himself to play drums, guitar and piano and he played them all for us. I asked him about dating and he said 'I like older women.' He is a very smooth kid."

Bieber Seeks Being a Normal Kid
Arguably, just because he owns homes and has staff and legions of fans it does not mean he isn't normal, and he realizes that or would not have tweeted that he is normal. He's a normal kid who is not leading a normal life.

After that exchange with gabbygrutt14 he went on to exchanges with rapper Ludacris and NBA star Carmelo Anthony, not exchanges a 'normal' 17-year-old would, well, normally have. But through it all, and the following day when he tweeted about shooting a commercial on the dangers of texting and driving, he was generous, kind, humble and grateful. For a 17-year-old with all that he has, mabye that's not normal after all.

Maybe it's special.

Justin Bieber raps on Ladies Love Me

LL Cool J . . . Bieber?

There's no doubt the ladies love them some Justin Bieber. (The underage ones, at least.) So news that the latest Biebz/Chris Brown collaboration to reach our ears is called Ladies Love Me seems obvious. (At the very least, it's a more obvious career move than becoming a nail-polish designer.)

But this isn't your average Bieber hit. And if you really want to split (immaculately conditioned) hairs, Ladies Love Me is really more of a Shawty Mane effort.

Yes, Shawty Mane — Bieber's rapping alter-ego. To think we'd nearly forgotten about all those times Biebz dropped adorable science on tracks by Sean Kingston (Won't Stop) and Cam'ron and Vado (Speakin' Tungs).

This time, it's Chris Brown who gets the very special gift that is a Shawty Mane guest spot — and all the Internet traffic that comes with it.

Bieber tweeted a link to the song — which features on Brown's first hip-hop-centric mixtape, Boy in Detention.

Maybe you're no fan of Shawty Mane. Maybe Snow — or Alanis's cover of My Humps — is more your thing, should you be a connoisseur of cheesy Canadian pop-rap.

But we'll say this: For a kid whose puberty seems to have been more delayed than an Olympic gymnast's, Bieber's skills have definitely matured since Shawty Mane's YouTube debut — even if the rhymes about "swagging" are fittingly silly and tween-friendly.

"Baby I'm not crazy, I got swag like Patrick Swayze/ Know them haters never phase me, that's not how my mama raised me," rhymes Bieber near the top of his verse.

Justin Bieber Tickets Auctioned by Cadillac

We're not sure what exactly the connection between the usual Cadillac buyer and the average Justin Bieber fan is, but somehow these two icons of their respective business have come together for a noble purpose.

Cadillac announced over the weekend that it had decided to auction what it called a Justin Bieber prize package, to benefit the Cure Duchenne nonprofit. Starting April 25, and until May 1, those willing can place their bids at the following link and hope to win. The campaign will also be advertised on Clear Channel and Sirius/XM.

The prize package includes a trip for two at Bieber concerts at select locations or a copy of Bieber’s new album, “Never Say Never - The Remixes.”

The decision Cadillac made to raise some money using Bieber is just another step the manufacturer is making to help fund Duchenne research or, at least, help ease the suffering of those affected. The genetic muscle disease affects 20,000 boys and young men in the United States, and it's evolution is unforgiving: those affected are diagnosed by the age of 5, in a wheelchair by age 12, and may be completely paralyzed by their late teens. Most of them do not live to see adulthood.

“Cadillac has been impressed with Cure Duchenne’s relentless efforts to seek new and innovative ways to treat and ultimately cure this devastating muscle disease,” said Don Butler, vice president of Cadillac marketing. “After helping shine the spotlight on Duchenne during the football season, we began looking for other opportunities to help this worthy cause.”

Justin Bieber Arrives In Australia

The word on the street is out -- Justin Bieber is in Australia, and his fans are desperate to find him.

Separate groups of girls are staking out two Queensland hotels where the teen star is rumoured to be staying. One group believes he is staying at Stamford Plaza in Brisbane, while another group are adamant that he is at the Palazzo Versace on the Gold Coast, a favourite celeb hideout.

So far Justin hasn't been spotted out and about -- which means maybe he is staying somewhere completely different.

While he has been pretty active on Twitter as usual, he hasn't commented on where he is or what he is doing. So far the only thing he has posted which might refer to his Australian trip is "great day".

We can however expect a duet with Chris Brown during at least one of his concerts. Both stars are currently touring the country, and Justin tweeted, "AUSTRALIA...we are coming...and there might be some surprises. LEGGO!! #myworldtour" and included a link to his collaboration with Chris 'Next 2 You'.

The other thing we are desperate to find out is whether or not Selena Gomez has come along for the ride. She was in Malaysia with Justin, but so far has not been spotted in Australia.

We had an incredible response to our Justin Bieber concert ticket competition, with thousands of girls (and boys!) letting us know exactly why they are Justin's biggest fan.

The competition has now closed, and we want to thank you guys for taking the time to enter and for helping us get to 10,000 likes on Facebook. We wish there was a way we could get you all to one of Justin's concerts, but as you guys know they are almost all sold out around the country.

Our two winners will be contacted by phone. We will speak to them and explain how they will receive their tickets before an announcement is made on our Facebook or Twitter accounts. They will definitely receive their tickets before the concert, no matter what state the winner comes from -- and we know there is a very short turnaround time for some of Justin's concerts!

There will be two overall winners from Australia. They will receive one ticket for them, and one for a friend. If you don't answer your phone straight away we will keep trying to contact you -- we will not choose another winner.

The two winners will not be announced or called live on air. So you don't need to stress if you haven't heard anything on the radio.
